The Sarguja Vishwavidyalaya, Ambikapur is a State University of Chhattisgarh established by Chhattisgarh Vishwavidyalaya (Amendment) Act Number 18/ 2008. In addition to affiliating colleges, the university has Seven Teaching Departments, namely
1. Department of Legal Studies – to offer LL.M. (P.G. ) Degree
2. Department of Bio-technology- to offer M.Sc. (Biotechnology) 
(P.G. ) Degree
3. Department of Environmental Science- to offer 
M.Sc. (Environmental Science) (P.G. ) Degree
4. Department of farm Forestry- to offer M.Sc. 
(farm Forestry) (P.G. ) Degree
5. Department of Computer Science- to offer 
M.Sc. (Computer Science) (P.G. ) Degree
6. Department of Functional Hindi- to offer 
M.A. (Functional Hindi) (P.G. ) Degree
7. Department of Pharmacy- to offer Diploma in Pharmacy

These programs in P.G. Teachings are based upon CBCS (Choice Based Credit System) as recommended by The University Grants Commission, New Delhi.
